Jovanna Perez Anzaldua
Jovanna Perez Anzaldua was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ where she learned through example how to express love through preparing and sharing food. She’s found pure joy in food since she can remember- cooking it, savoring it, growing it, learning about it.
Jovanna is owner of Comal Food Books & Goods, an Arizona based culinary bookstore created in celebration of food, community and connection. She’s also worked in social justice nonprofits for over ten years with a focus on reproductive health and sustainability. As a natural connector who thrives on collaboration and projects that allow her to flex her imagination and creative muscles, she’s put care and sweat into many local projects over the years with experience ranging from podcast host to board member. She’s excited to put her background behind Slow Food Phoenix at this exciting time of growth, especially in carrying forward the Snail of Approval Award which is one of the initial ways that she began to engage with our organization before becoming a board member.
She is mama to two little, amazing humans who are her greatest inspiration to build towards a just and equitable world. She raises her family with her husband in Phoenix, and can be found on new adventures with them, working on her food photography skills or diving into the world of culinary related publications in her free time. @jovi_anzaldua
